“The way kids learn to make good decisions is by making
decisions, not by following directions.”
― Alfie Kohn, Unconditional Parenting: Moving from Rewards and Punishments to Love and Reason
{This is one of my favorite quotes by one of my favorite authors. I love how forward Alfie Kohn is in all of his beliefs of how children should be treated and taught. This quote is important for me because I also believe that this is how children learn how to make good decisions. Parents and teachers can't expect their children to become independent and strong people just through directions. It is important for me to remember this quote while working with children.}
{The first time I read this book was just a few months ago in a Children's Literature course. I grew to love this book and all that it stands for. It teaches children to care about others who are less fortunate. This book is powerful and I believe that no matter what age you are, this book can be applied to you.}
